Internships the new prerequisite for employment?

21 Aug

Here’s a quote from a depressing but relevant article about unpaid internships from PBS.org: “The phenomenon of the unpaid intern used to be almost unheard of: in 1992, only 17 percent of college graduates had taken an internship, but by 2008 nearly 50 percent of graduates were working for free. Now, working for a year or two without any income is considered so routine many don’t even bat an eyelash at the thought.”

The link within the quote is worth following as well.
